I should be getting a Gaming PC within the next month so I thought I might aswell start planning now since amd has pretty much announced their lineup through april.

So far I'm choosing in between an Athlon X4 base and a 7750 since my budget is about £500. I'll be using it for gaming and would prefer to use an ssd in my build to speed boot times up a bit.

So far I've come up with:

Athlon 64 X2 7750/Athlon X4
OCZ Vertex 30GB/OCZ Core V2 30GB
Hitachi Deskstar 640gb
Xigmatek 650w Quad SLI certified
XClio Propeller
Sapphire 4830
Biostar TA790GX-A2+
4GB corsair TwinX 800mhz CL5
Coolermaster Hyper TX 2

SSD........ waste of money. get a standard 7500rpm hard drive.

4830......... depending on the games you want to play and the resolution could be iffy. My nephew uses one and it's ok for the older games he plays and plays COD4 at 1024x768 good enough. Wouldn't expect much from it after that. ... FarCry2/crysis/newer titles

Processor....... get the tri-core or a quad. Games are using them now and they're cheap enough.

You really don't need an after market cooling device.

pc6400 ok IMO. You're not going to know the difference between that and pc8500.

Boistar boards. I've used a few. For a budget build they are fine. Good luck.

Ok gonna get a 640GB caviar black instead.

A Palit 4850 512mb since a 4870 would put me out of my price range inc a HDD.

Oh yeah my monitor is 1920x1200

Will probably get a 720 or a 925 if they are cheap enough.

EDIT: with the parts I've just said the build comes to £432 ex vat, my budget is 450 ex vat so I have about £20 left to spend.

I read some reviews somewhere that they said to make sure you're running 9.2 Catalyst with the cards to prevent some issues.

Maybe that will help ya. hope so. I know how slowed down cards affect a box. :(

Ok guys would it be better to get a 4830 at first and then save the extra £45 for later so I could get another one and use them in crossfire since in 4830 cf vs 4850 cf the 4830 in cf comes out on top.
