Athlon XP 2800+ can hold Windows Vista?

My CPU is Athlon XP 2800+ 2268MHz, Does my cpu can hold Windows Vista with good acceptable speed?

RAM: 1GB DDR333 SDRAM 2-2-5 1
Graphics Card: ATi Radeon 9600 Pro 128MB 128bit

But I'm open "Computer" in Windows Vista, the time "Computer" window load completely takes is much longer than that of Winodws XP. It is quite confusing, Windows Vista really take high load on my CPU. (Athlon XP 2268MHz)

On top of probable bugs.. since we don't know how much memory you have, that might be the problem also..
256 probably isn't good.. for testing out Vista, I'd have to say a minimum of 1MB.. 512 would suffice but even then.. 1GB is minimal/ideal.

But we do know how much ram - he said 1gig in his first post.

The problem is his video card. 9600 might be ok performance-wise, but everything I've heard says it needs 256M of RAM, and his is 128.

Your problem is probably your 9600. It may be able to perform fast enough, but 128Meg is below what I remember being required.

I'm know the Vista is buggy, But I want know how Vista exhaust my pc, my pc is quite good in Windows XP, and insight the path of hardware evolution in next year. I will look for Athlon X2 3GHz and X950 at first time.

theres no freaking way the os requires a 256 meg video card. yea i know it uses the graphics to procces stuff but still, thats a huge upgrade for business computers.

I hope you're right. (I don't have one with 256meg) I know I read somewhere that to turn on all the eye candy you needed a lot of graphics memory... I'll see if I can find it.

MS's site is very quiet about the graphics requirements to run the full Aero display model (or whatever its called...) They say minimum requirements for Vista are a 32meg card, with comments that 128 is required for high res. But they don't say much about good performance requirements.<A HREF="http://www.microsoft.com/technet/windowsvista/evaluate/hardware/vistarpc.mspx" target="_new">MS Technet</A>

These sites quote an Australian MS Employee saying a 128meg card will run the Aero display, but a 256meg card is better.
