Hello, just in the past hour I have had 2 BSoDs because of athrx.sys. I looked up what it was, and it seems to be the driver for wireless adapters or something. The strange thing is that I don't have one of these wireless adapters so I assumed this file wouldn't even open or activate, and the program doesn't show up in services.msc, the list of programs in Control Panel, or anywhere else, but I have the sys files. Is there a workaround for this? Thanks.

it should be Atheros network adapter driver. It can be sold under various brand names. It does not have to be a wireless adpter, it could be a wired one.
Also, if someone plugged in a usb wireless ethernet adapter then unplugged it. It would not show up in your device list.
You have to make the device manager display disconnected devices. The driver will be still loaded when a usb device is removed. So it can still bugcheck your system. try this http://www.dslreports.com/faq/4115 or google "how to display hidden devices in device manager"
or check the menus to see if you can display hidden devices (depend on version of windows)

basically, find the hidden device and use PNPutil.exe to remove the driver package from the driverstore.

if you know what actual device you was installed, go to here and get the most current driver:https://www.atheros.cz/
otherwise if you plug the device again, windows plug and play will reinstall the old broken driver and you will be back where you started.

The weird thing is that I reinstalled Windows 7 64 bit within the last month, and I don't own any products by this company, and I'm the only person who uses this computer. The BSoD hasn't happened since I posted this, but I'll check back here if I need some extra help. Thanks
