ati 2004 roadmap

anandtech.com has an article on ati's plans for 2004 chipsetsets, agp/pci express etc. ati will have a direct pci express card, no bridge, on release day.

I think I will upgrade to a pci express and good overclocking A64 mobo later when these babies arrive.

Look out for the R450, as an 0.11 part it may OC like a Mutha!

Notice they didn't have that one listed. Maybe they have that one confused with the R450. They do have the RV370 as a 0.11 part, but that's not worth the OC really IMO.

IF NV40 = $499, then expect R420 to be the same.

The Roadmap seems a little 'off'.

8 Pixel Pipelines on the R42X, I don't think so.

All info so far shows that it's at least 12x1.

The vertex shader numbers seem about right.

And 160mil transistors and yet only 8x1 +6x1? Doesn't add up unless there's alot of other functionality built in, or bigger on die cache (which would be VERY surprising use of limited space)

Also it has been said that initial offerings of the R420 will be DDR2, and that the initial offering of the R423 will be the first with GDDR3.

The lack of the R450 seems strange too as it was the one touted as the first to use the 0.11 process.

Of course previous info may be wrong, but alot of the info from Anand seems suspect.
