ATI 5670 Release Quiery (40nm/32nm and when)

Hi,

I was hoping if someone that may know this answer could advise.

But on looking through the internet I am getting somewhat conflicting info on this card.

My question is.

Will this card be coming out in October the same time as the ATI 5770/5750 in 40nm form, and then re-released in Q1 2010 as 32nm.

Or

Will this card not be coming out at all in 40nm form and just coming out in Q1 2010 as 32nm.

Or

Will this card be coming out in 40nm form in October and not until way later (as in Q2/Q3 2010 - i.e. the time a year later the ATI 4770 came out this generation) coming out in 32nm form.

I am asking as I am wanting a new card and this card is the one interesting me most of all due to the likelihood of it not needing a PCIe PSU power connector.

But if its not coming until Q1 2010 (likely March knowing ATI) then I may get another card.

I'm sure they ALL will need a pci-e power connector.

Nobody can answer your questions without some sort of crystal ball.

Not from what I have read the 5670.

I asked as someone may have read it somewhere that I may have missed.

The internet is a big place and people can miss something.

There has been no official details released about the cards so it is all meaningless speculation right now. Though i really doubt that anyone will be producing 32nm chips in Q1 of 2010, i would say Q2 at the earliest, they cant even get good 40nm yields right now and AMD has had months to improve that with the 4770.

The 5670 shouldnt need a power connector from what i understand. The 5770 will need a single one but its my beleif from what i have read that the 5670 wont. I dont think anything will come out as 32nm yet either.

I think there won't be any 32nm gpu chips in 2010, maybe 2011... they hardly have the 40nm process working right

Isn't GlobalFoundries 28nm going to ramp up sometime next year....

As I recall most fabs are doing 32 nm just for SOI (not used for GPUs), and skipping directly to 28nm for the Bulk process.

second half of 2010, but i would be surprised if they get any meaningfull amount of chips/cards out to the market before the end of the year...
