Hello everyone

Right now I'm looking to get an ATI 5870, I already have an Sapphire ATI Radeon HD 4870 but want to upgrade. The lowest possible price I can find in the UK is £266.90 from here: http://www.onestoppcshop.co.uk/products.asp?partno=21161-00-50
This is a Sapphire 5870.

However this price is way to high for me and my budget wont stretch that much. Does anyone think or know how much the price drop will be after Xmas or new years, or when a significant price drop will happen.

Thanks in advance! :)

TSMC is producing the video chips for AMD/ATI. They are have production yield problems at no more than 40% yield which is horrendous. That means for every 100 GPUs, 60 are trash. Thus, low supply and increased cost per "good" GPU, which is why AMD announced prices for the HD 5xxx is going up.

Prices will drop when TSMC can improve their manufacturing process for 40nm chips, something they have been struggling with ever since the HD 4770.
