Get the 6790, it has the better ram interface. 256 vs 128 bit.

Or get a 6850... its only a couple $ more...

Get the 6850. May be a bit more but it has better performance and actually uses less power then the 6790.

6850 --> 6790 --> 6770 in this order and depending on budget.

Maybe try to find an older *USED* 6950 that you can flash to 6970... Would be your best investment imho
