Hello Community,

First of all thank you for any help provided. I am a Star Wars fan and when I saw the upcoming game "The Old Republic" I knew I had to start gaming once more. I asked around and people told me that an ATI 6950 will be able to cover the graphic demands of the game and allow me to run it at max settings. First I will like to confirm this statement with you. Second, I do not have a lot of money for upgrades, (around 300 dlls) I own a XPS 420 Desktop with the following configurations:

Windows 7 64-bit
Intel Core2 Duo Quad 2.0 Ghz
3 Gbs RAM DDR2 667Mhz
320 HDD 7200 RPM/ w 16M Cache
128 MB DDR4 ATI HD 2400 PRO (NEEDS TO GET REPLACES---really old/useless---that is what i was told)
Power Supply of 375 W.
Expansion Slots: PCI: 3slots, PCIex1: 1 slot PCIex16: 1 slot, PCIex8: 1slot.

My primary concern with buying this video card is #1 Will it fit, #2 will the power supply be enough to maintain it? #3 Will it run The Old Republic at max settings considering the specs my computer will have after the video card upgrade?

Thank you so much community.

Solution
Your 2.0GHz quad will severely bottleneck a HD6950. Max card I would consider in that system would be HD6750/70 which will run on your current PSU.
# 1, yes it will fit.....
# 2, no the power supply won't be enough for the whole system.
# 3 , it will depend on the CPU and GPU combined performance, you need to upgrade your CPU to a high frequency Intel Core 2 Quad or Core 2 Extreme as your machine will be supportive.
