Can anyone tell me were I will see the big difference with this card vs my old G Force 2? I have install the new card in my system and I guess I'm not sure were the better performance is at. Maybe I'm not playing the right games. I have a ECS board Athlon 2000 with 256 DDR ram and maxtor 60 gig 7200 rpm Thanks for your input.

You should see it in everything.

I went from a Geforce 2 to a Radeon 8500 (performs a little better than a 9000 Pro). 3DMarks went from about 5000 [oops - make that 4000] to about 7300 (over 8000 when overclocked). Quake 3 went from about 120 fps to 170 fps (1024 resolution). Max Payne went from about 35-40 fps (medium details) to 50-90 fps (max detail, plus anisotropy (4x) but only 16-bit textures). Get about 100 fps in the UT2003 fly-by benchmark and 37 fps in botmatch benchmark.

You should be able to use higher resolutions and more details with more playability than with a Geforce 2.

My system consists of an Athon Tbird 1000 at 1500 Mhz (150*10), a Radeon 8500 overclocked to (300/325), KT133A mobo, 256MB PC150 SDRAM.

99% is great, unless you are talking about system stability
Edited by phsstpok on 12/04/02 04:12 PM.
