At this point there probably is almost no thermal paste left in between the chip and the built in heat sink. By the way, the card is a single slot card with a tiny fan right above it. So it probably would be quite a bit harder than any dual slot graphics card. And as I stated in the original post, there is no thermal paste I have to actually use.
Also I think that it's been in use 6-8 years or so now.
6-8 years? I think it's high time you got yourself something new and shiny. I say it would be more trouble to try and fix it.
If I try to get a new graphics card, it'd probably overwork the CPU (Intel Core i7-2600S @ 2.8 GHz)
and then because it's an older socket than the LGA-1151 that I would most likely need for an upgrade to the CPU, I would have to get a new motherboard, meaning new RAM modules (currently DDR3). And it's quite expensive to build a new computer or purchase one. which is why I want to try and use this one as long as possible before upgrading.
