[SOLVED] ATI/AMD Radeon 5670 Temps

Currently while gaming I receive temps that are aprox. 95 Celsius to 98 Celsius. I have installed an extra fan inside my pc to try and assist with cooling. I have no thermal paste to apply to the graphics card nor how to pull the actual card out safety and pull the heatsink off of the card.

Sounds like your graphics card was either damaged in transit or just has malfunctioning hardware. Request a new one.

It probably has just been damaged over the years. The best you can do is try to reapply the thermal paste, but i do not know how to access it on that specific card. I am sure you could find it with a quick search online. Check for any dinks in the heatsink or missing diodes/chips on the card itself.

So it probably would be quite a bit harder than any dual slot graphics card. And as I stated in the original post, there is no thermal paste I have to actually use.

Also I think that it's been in use 6-8 years or so now.

If I try to get a new graphics card, it'd probably overwork the CPU (Intel Core i7-2600S @ 2.8 GHz)
and then because it's an older socket than the LGA-1151 that I would most likely need for an upgrade to the CPU, I would have to get a new motherboard, meaning new RAM modules (currently DDR3). And it's quite expensive to build a new computer or purchase one. which is why I want to try and use this one as long as possible before upgrading.

What is your current GPU? I use a 1060 3gb and I can run almost every game 1080p ultra 60FPS no problem.

Yep a 1060 3GB or 1050TI would work great, Whatever fits your budget. Anything 1060 6GB and above would be too strong for your CPU. the 1060 3GB already cuts it close.

I only have a 300W HP Power supply without any cables other than 4 SATA (1 adapted to LP4 Molex) one 24-pin MB connector, and 1 4-pin MB connector. would it be worth also upgrading the power supply to a 400W psu for a new graphics card? and an actual LP4 Molex connector from the psu?

Yes the GPU needs a PCI-E power cable and at least 400W for your whole system.

Yes the GPU needs a PCI-E power cable and at least 400W for your whole system.

I will probably go with a 450W semi modular to be safe. As soon as I can afford to get the parts, I will.

I actually put new thermal compound on the graphics chip and enabled integrated graphics (it went to 107 Celsius in game for some reason). Now it gets to only 84 Celsius in game. Integrated Graphics and thermal compound made it much better at keeping cooler.
