I've searched high and low for anything google can answer but anything with the problem I have never seems to get solved. I have one more recourse once I get home from work to try by using the Guru3D driver uninstaller but still trying to get better answers.

Upgrading Video Cards.

Going from: HIS Radeon HD 4670 1GB 128-Bit DDR3 PCI Express 2.0 x16

To: SAPPHIRE DUAL-X Radeon HD 6970 2GB 256-Bit GDDR5 PCI Express 2.0 x16

Original card worked no problem.

Install the new one and I have no video output. Fans spin up and depending on what I've done with drivers and the device manager even seems to go from full speed to slow and quiet.

While running video off the MOBO i try and install the latest ATI Catalyst drivers and such, mid install I BSOD with the atihdw76.sys being the culprit.

Now from what I've found it's a HD audio driver for the HDMI output. If I do a custom install instead of the express and leave off the audio driver it makes it through the install without a problem but still no video from the HDMI output.

I'm at a loss here. Thanks for stopping.

Rest of my build:

Windows 7 current on updates
AMD Phenom II X4 960T
BIOSTAR A880G+ MOBO
G.SKILL Ripjaws Series 8GB (2 x 4GB)

Solution
rremove the driver and get things back to where it on the windows standard vga driver .. and it should be working on that to get to desk top then go back to amd and get the 13.4 or the 13.12 driver for your older card and see how they do ..

I would think you doing the drivers like its stated in the release notes as far as install/ uninstalling ??? and not any auto or through the device manager???

start computer as normal-- got to add/remove programs--- uninstall all your old cards drivers and add on programs for the card--- shut down and then reboot back to desktop normally [ i dont like to do safemode here cause it my hide an issue ] and it should be running on the windows default driver to check-- go to device manager-display-...
Where are you getting this ATI Catalyst driver from?
ATI has been gone for some time now having been bought by AMD. You should be using AMD Catalyst for your drivers. So I'm not sure if that was just a typo or if you've got some really old drivers...

From the install disk that came with the card as well as downloading directly from AMD. Saying ATI was just in error. Thanks for responding.

Already done the custom install minus the HD Audio Device driver, the install completes but no video from the card.

Thanks
