Hi, could somebody tell me how to find out my ATI Radeon 8500LE clock speed? I bought it from newegg last week. It runs great, just want to know more details. Thanks

Download PowerStrip from rage3d.com and use the "Performance Profile" to edit you clock speeds. In that window, it tells you your core and RAM speeds. You can also use it to overclock.

R8500 275MHz core and 275MHz (550MHzDDR) (3.3ns) memory
8500LE 250MHz core and 250MHz (500MHzDDR) (3.3ns) memory
or (some cos. have an underclocked version 4 sale)
8500LE 230MHz core and 230MHz (460MHzDDR) (4ns) memory

The R8500LE 64MB comes with 4ns TSOP RAM usually. The 128MB version comes with either 3.6ns or 3.3ns BGA RAM. Also, I think the R8500 64MB comes with 3.6ns RAM... I could be wrong.

it is supposed to be a R8500LE with 250MHz core and 250MHz memory. But i heard the it was clocked with 275MHz core and 250MHz memory. It is ture after i use the powerstrip to check the profile. It runs great. i strongly recommend this card to people who doesn't want to spend two much on video card. It only cost $95.00.

I have the 128MB ATI RADEON 8500 retail and it's clocked at 275/275 but with 3.6ns BGA DDR-SDRAM. But, it runs stable overclocked to 300/300(600).

You was concieved in darkness but I'm gonna deliver you into the light!

Correction: 275MHz for memory, 250MHz for core. I want to overclock the core to 275MHz. Can anybody give me some tips for thar?

The Retail 8500 64MB and the 8500 64MB OEM (BBA) both come with 3.3ns SGRAM DDR clocked at 275mhz. The 128 MB cards use BGA. I'm talking only about BBA cards (Built By ATI).

I'm less sure about the LE cards. I've seen BBA LE's clocked at 250/250, 250/230, and 230/230.

I'm beginning to think only the early model LE's were clocked at 230/230. It seems ATI has settled in with 250/250 for the retail 8500LE and 250/230 for the OEM version.

As far as I know, as with the 8500s, the 64MB LE's have SGRAM DDR and the 128MB LE's have BGA memory. I have no idea of the rated speeds of the memory.

Well I know you can get 3.6ns amd 3.3ns BGA RAM. The funny thing is, I had SGRAM with the Radeon 8500LE 128MB.
Hmmm, I thought you had BGA memory on that card. I also thought SGRAM density was too low for 128MB cards. My 8500 64MB OEM requires 8 chips, 4 on each side.

Time for more research!

have a BBA Retail 8500LE it came with 3.6 BGA memory
Clock speed and memory were 250/250
flashed to retail with 7006 bios now 275/275
Will do 300/300 stable!
Cool!

Does it have 128MB of BGA memory?

the figures that I have were from original release of these cards... everybody & his/her dog seems to release the cards now with diff. memory & core speeds... I think 'they' like the confusion it causes...

OK, well, it's BGA RAM, and on the RAM chips, it says Infineon SGRAM. I dunno...Take a look at the picture at the bottom of the page here. Mine is almost exactly the same, except it says 3.6 instead of 3.3.

The 8500OEM 64MB looks like this except this card doesn't have the Rage Theater chip (small IC left of the GPU just below the large capacitors). The card does have 3.3 ns DDR memory. (I forget the name of the packaging, has pins on two edges instead of four).
