ati Radeon Powersupply

Is it necessary that you connect your ati (Radeon 9500 and up)to the powersupply AND a harddrive or can you connect it to the powersupply with NO harddrive attached to it? And what is the reason you have to connect them both?

The only reason that the Radeon power supply hook up has an extra prong is in case you are running out of power plugs and need an extra one for a CD rom drive or hard disk.

You certainly do NOT have to use the extra power plug.
