Ati radeon question

Hello,
I purchased an ATI 5870 graphics card. It has an 8 pin plug and a 4 pin plug. Which one do I use to power the card?

The card generally requires two 6 pin connectors.....I have seen models with an 8 pin and a 6 pin but , as yet, not ones with 6 + 4.

I don't think that any modern video card need a 4 pin power plug.

Assuming you are confused on the pin count, but are really asking which one do you use, the answer is both.

Please give your exact brand and model so we can check more precisely what you have and what you need to make it work.

8 + 4 = 6 + 6. Those pins are actually 6 and 6 and you need both to power the card.
There should be a molex adapter if your PSU doesn't have the extra connector.

Thanks for all that replied. You were right, I was confused. There is an 8 pin and a 6 pin and they both are used.
