ATI9800Pro crashing

New ATi 9800 Pro crashes all the time. Installed with latest drivers on freshly loaded Win XP Prop, SP1 with Catalyst 4.6 drivers. Windows is reporting problem with Graphics driver, but other times says its a hardware or memory error. Ran Microsoft mem testing software and it passed fine. Motherboard is a FIC AD11 ver 1.2a with latest bios. Crashes as soon as I attempt to start any 3d type game, and even when starting a file download from sites or just running IE.

Could be a power supply problem.

PS is a CWT-350 watt. I thought this might also be the issue, but I unplugged the DVD drive and it still is crashing with same frequency. I'm running AMD XP1900 along with an Audigy card and SMC NIC, one HD, CDRW and a floppy. 512meg of ram. Ran a CPU burn in test and it passed. Is there anyway to confirm PS vs.not without buying a better one?

Well, the problem with the power supply would be an overloaded 12v line, and that would happen when your 3D Accelerator turns on with games, if that's the problem. I doubt you'd get that kind of load from your drives, you could try checking it with MBM5.

Just kidding, it's Motherboard Monitor 5, it supports many boards, it's a system monitoring utility for voltages and teperatures, with a logging feature you can use to keep a record of things like the 12v line that I think might be affecting your system.

Sunny tech, they're not very reliable power supplies, i've blew 3 myself, and have seen about at least 30 blown. If you're broke, pick up a Sparkle/FSP 350 watt psu, if you got some cash, pick up an Antec380 or Enermax350.
