Ive been struggling with atikmpag for years now. Over two different rigs ive built, this stupid error has been crashing my computer for years now. Ive done every trick in the book and have scoured hundreds of posts over dozens of websites and it seems to date no one has actually come up with a solution for this.

crash dump file: C:\WINDOWS\Minidump\042518-7046-01.dmp
This was probably caused by the following module: atikmpag.sys (0xFFFFF80C3E11F7E8)
Bugcheck code: 0x116 (0xFFFFE687780A9330, 0xFFFFF80C3E11F7E8, 0xFFFFFFFFC0000001, 0x3)
Error: VIDEO_TDR_ERROR
file path: C:\WINDOWS\System32\DriverStore\FileRepository\c0323831.inf_amd64_1212be4b9fe2386c\atikmpag.sys
product: AMD driver
company: Advanced Micro Devices, Inc.
description: AMD multi-vendor Miniport Driver
Bug check description: This indicates that an attempt to reset the display driver and recover from a timeout failed.
A third party driver was identified as the probable root cause of this system error. It is suggested you look for an update for the following driver: atikmpag.sys (AMD multi-vendor Miniport Driver, Advanced Micro Devices, Inc.).
Google query: atikmpag.sys Advanced Micro Devices, Inc. VIDEO_TDR_ERROR

The same error every single time.
This is the second rig this has happened on and I am honestly losing it. The error happens completely randomly during gaming, but happens more on certain games. Escape from tarkov crashes as soon as the client opens, but games like league of legends and subnautica can be played for 12 hours straight without an issue.

Please guys give me some obscure answer I havent heard, im actually getting desperate. I have warranty on the card, but the value has gone down dramatically since the crypto boom so im stuck with my rx480 til things settle.

Ive used DDU in safe mode and uninstalled drivers, even followed up with AMD clean uninstaller to make sure every bit is gone, then rebooted then reinstalled AMD adrenaline which automatically detects and installs the latest drivers. The only thing ive done that has SORT OF worked was installing older drivers (17.7) and that allowed me to get past the loading screen on tarkov. Maybe the newest drivers started to mess up for my RX480? Im gonna try backtracking drivers one update at a time until I find stability.
