Hi,

My ATT 3600HGV had the wireless burn out. Can I hook up a Linksys router behind the ATT modem for wifi? If so how do I do this?

Thanks

You can. Take and run an ethernet cable from you computer to the lan port of the Linksys then go to your browser and type in 192.168.1.1 on the address and when it opens to the routers setup page change the IP address of the router to 192.168.1.2 then go set up the wireless and passwords the way you want them. Also you will need to change the router to access point or bridge while in the settings.

Most wireless routers you can buy now allow you to set them up as access point. just follow instructions included with router.

Also, have you tried resetting the ATT device? That may be a first step. Typically your wireless capabilities will not just 'burn out'.

Thanks for the response. I followed your instructions and the Linksys shows up but when I connect there is no internet. It says in an error message that everything is setup correctly but that the DNS server is not responding.

Thanks. I reset the device to no avail. When it burnt out I could smell a burning plastic type smell.
