U-verse
Arris NVG599 modem
Asheville, NC
My AT&T U-verse service generally functions well. All my devices right now are on wireless, not Ethernet. Although I could get a cable and test one on Ethernet.
One website, important to me, www.privatebullion.com (Liquid Web the host) gives a server time out. On a:
Windows 7 desktop
Apple Macbook.
iPad running wireless
The fact that three such different devices have the same timeout pretty much eliminates and internal Windows problem. Something seems askew in the wireless-router area.
Yet the iPad loads the site quickly when it switches to cellular, wireless turned off.
As far as I can tell so far, a programmer checking logs, the requests do not actually reach the server. (Why does it say server time-out then? Dunno.)
u-verse support sees no blockage and has offered to change/upgrade the modem.
Any thoughts about why this occurs, and what to do?
The radical steps are:
a) new modem
b) switch to Optimum Cable (being considered anyway)
However, I really would like to know the root cause.
Thanks for any assistance!
