Hello everyone,
I was hoping to get a bit of help regarding the various technologies available from various ISPs. I am currently staying with my parents and Comcast just hiked up the price on them, so they are looking to cancel and potentially switch to AT&T.
From what I can tell, there's no fiber to our house service in the area so Comcast and ATT are really the two choices. We really need good, consistent internet since I am a heavy gamer, my dad is also a casual gamer, and both myself and my parents typically work remote several days of the week.
I've been doing some research on U-verse's Fiber to the node technology, and getting conflicting information. I chatted with the rep and she confirmed it's FTTN. Some say the fiber aspect of it allows for faster speeds but others say that the Uverse format is suited for Tv more than internet and will drop packets and get ping drops. their Internet 50 is our fastest available option.
our other option is Comcast, I haven't contacted them yet, it looks like their 75mb/s blast internet is our fastest option, but it's just regular cable AFAICT. i'm thinking I might be able to negotiate a better deal as a "returning member" or something like that, on my name/account.
so I guess my question is, how good is the U-verse FTTN format vs regular cable, esp if the regular cable has faster stated speeds? thanks in advance
