Attached new hard drive to PC, it's recognised but I can't use it.

So now I have 2 hard drives on my pc.

The one I am using.

And the one that I attached but isn't recognised (half recognised).

Been awhile, but I think you need to click to the left. Where it says Disk0. Left click, I think, and initialize the disk. Then you should be able to format it.

I was right? Been a long time since I've seen that....

yup.

I also realised when I go into "Disk management" an automatic messgae comes up saying format drive to use it.
