I have had this problem for a while, and I cannot figure this out. This is going to be a lengthy post. Ok, So my old computer had a core 2 quad q6600, three gigs of ram, and a peice of crap motherboard. I decided to see if I could breathe some new life into it and add an R9 270. I installed a new (Well, actually really old) Enermax 535w power supply and an R9 270, and the gaming experience in games like gta 4 and skyrim was awesome. But, I started running into this problem: The game would crash and my monitor would go into standby mode, and when I moved my mouse around it would start back up onto the desktop and the game would be gone. Then, I would try and restart the game and would be greeted with a BSoD saying, "Attempt to reset display driver and recover from the timeout failed" I dealt with the problem for a while, but I then decided that I wanted more performance, so I bought a new motherboard (ASUS M5A78L-M/USB3) a new cpu (AMD FX 6300), and new Ram (Crucial ballistix 8 gb kit). I installed everything in new case and started playing. And now, in both gta 4 and skyrim, the screen will kind of tear, the audio gets stuck in a rather unpleasant screech. I alt tab and close the game, then I restart it and im greeted with the same BSoD. I tried updating the registry for a longer response time. I tried reinstalling the drivers. I tried going into cmd with administrative access and sfc/ scannow to repair windows files.I tried installing MSI afterburner and upping the power limit to the gpu. It still happens. In games like h1z1, It can happen, but its rare and is much more common in skyrim/gta 4. I have no idea whats happening. Im not an experienced pc builder, but I do like to think i know a thing or two about pcs. My graphics card is past the warranty and i cant replace it, so if it is the graphics card, how can i fix it?
