Hey hows it going
I'm a poorfag and my mate gave me his old gaming rig to upgrade. I managed to overclock the e6750, no problem. Upgraded the gpu, no problem. i tried upgrading the ram, big problem....
My motherboard is asus p5k se
I was running 4GB (2x2GB) and I bought new another 4GB (2x2GB). They do not match. After my first installation attempt I wasn't even getting a POST. After fiddling around and a few more restarts, I managed to get it to boot with my original 4GB of RAM. I wanted to check the bios so i restarted my computer. I then received the blank display no post error and couldn't get past it on any other attempt.
After a lot of stressing thinkin 've fried my motherboard, and looking over these forums and youtube, i discovered you could reset your bios by taking out the cmos battery and moving the pin connector cap thing from 1-2 to the 2-3 setting. So i took out the battery and did the reset and came back after a long break. I decided to try and boot it with the 8GB of ram on the first attempt and low and behold it worked! it detected all 8GB of RAM. oh how happy i was i had fixed this problem. but my joy was short lived.
I suspected it was a problem with my memory settings in the bios causing this problem. so i went to restart it again to get to bios. then i got this same error again. Any attempt to get to the bios screen using the CMOS reset has failed again, even when tried with the original 4GB
Most the time ive been able to sort things out by just using the forums and i have never had to make a post like this, I am reallly stumped.
from my experiences today I do not believe I have a faulty mother board. Everything on the MOBO is working, the light, cpu and case fan, drives all spinning. plus the fact i got it to work on two random occasions, 1 time with 4GB RAM and another with the 8GB RAM makes me believe that my motherboard and ram combination is possible. I do get BIOS beeps with the error. When I have the original 4GB installed i get 1 beep, then about 10 seconds to another 1 beep. When I have the 8GB installed i get 1 beep, then after 10 seconds i get two very close short beeps.
Only thing that i have read and haven't tried is that my motherboards ram settings, voltage and timings are all messed up. but i cant even get to the bios screen. That or the PSU screwed? but again the random times my computer did boot suggests its still getting the power it needs...
Got any suggestions guys?
