Attempted to upgrade RAM, now I'm getting beeps even with the old RAM.

Motherboard model: ASUS M4A89TD PRO AM3 AMD 890FX SATA 6Gb/s
Old memory setup: 2x2 Kingston 2GB DDR3 1333Mhz (KVR1333D3N9/2G)
New memory: 2x4 Kingston HyperX Fury Blue DDR3 HX313C9FK2/8 1333MHz

What happened:

I wanted to upgrade my RAM from the 2x2 setup above to a 12 GB (2x2 + 2x4). The new memory sticks I purchased have the same speed and same brand, so I figured they'd work together. Initially I have installed the two new RAM sticks along with the old ones. Did not work. I got the beeping noises (one continuous beep followed by two short beeps - indicating that the RAM was not detected). Then I removed the old RAM leaving just the new sticks in. Same thing. After some tries I decided to put the old sticks back, and to my surprise, not even the old sticks are working now, getting beeps every time. Motherboard is apparently normal - CPU Fan spinning, GPU fan spinning, so it's definitely not dead.

List of things I've tried:

- Putting a single stick of new or old RAM (done on every slot)
- Reverting to exact old setup
- Unplugging power cable and pressing power button
- Resetting CMOS both pressing the jumper and by removing the battery for several minutes
- Re-seating RAM countless times

Have probably inserted and removed RAM sticks over a hundred times, and each try with nothing plugged in except the power cable. My BIOS is outdated, but I can't update it because I can't even boot, I turn the comp on and just get the repeating beep sequence described. I am sure I inserted the RAM sticks right, they always got locked tight in place with a click.

Any ideas? Is my motherboard compromised?

Thanks

I'd clear the CMOS and then try your old DRAM, the Furys use PnP which I don't think is supported by your mobo chipset for setup and are also made w/ 4Gb memory chips which I don't think are supported either, believe you need DRAM with 2Gb memory chips, check the Kingston web page for the supported chipsets that the Furys will run with
download memtesk86

i would check to see if there are any errors.

i had the same issue going from corsair 2x4GB sticks to 4x4GB sticks

turns out i got sent bad ram, told corsair that through there website and they got me to send them the ram and i got new straight from factory (lifetime warenty on corsair)

makesure motherboard has an updated bios.

if its not posting with old ram i would check the manual on how to reset bios and go from there
