The game is Sid Meirs Pirates and I tried the CD in the machine to play the
game and it goes to the pirates page with the old style ships wheel and then
the screen goes blank and then back to my home page .It does this every time
I try it. I have tried with a full install and also a partial install. same
problem. The game even had me install the 24 digit code number and still I
can get no further. You mentioned Google.just what would I look for .Thanks
from a newbie.......

Try Atari support, here:

http://www.atari.com/us/support/

At a guess, you have a system driver, probably a video driver, that's not
as new or updated as it should be. If you know how, I would go collect
updated drivers for your video and audio cards, and update DirectX to the
latest version (9.0c). That's probably what Atari support will tell you
to do first, anyway.

For my next trick, I will drink a glass of water, while Shenanigunner
does a small tap dance on my knee.

Did anyone see my lips move?

Anyways, yeah, Atari support is the place to check. I looked at the
game at my local store today, and noticed that there is a teen warning
on it....and someone gave this to your 9 year old grandchild?

Anyways.

I played this game back when it originally came out in the late
80s.....my reccomendation: return it as defective, and get one more
geared toward the age group.

Some of the graphics in Pirates should have been in Leisure Suit Larry.

Just as a quick note on this. On some systems you have to disable the DLA
for the drive you are operating the game out of in order to make it work.
