Some boards with PCIX like the ASUS A8V and the MSI K8N Platnium states that it requires a ATX 2.0 power supply. Is this really necessary or can I continue to use my Antec true430

ASUS A8V motherboard
AMD ATHLON 64 3500+
Windows XP SP2 / Fedora
KINGSTON 1GB RAM dual channel
MAXTOR 80GB SATA
LG Combo drive 52x32x52x16
ANTEC TRUE430

If your voltage readings are stable, and led lights do not dim on startup, or fans slowing down, or random system crashes, you should be fine.

And the sign says "You got to have a membership card to get inside" Huh

i would probably upgrade due to the fact your
1) going to run out of 4 pin connectors to supply your hardware, you have to use converters on the 4 pin to supply your sata hdd and pci video card, you will also have less clutter this way too.
2) you will save on electricity, the 2.0 is much more efficent. you can find one for like 80$, i`m sure you will save that in electricity in 2 years or so.
3) your system will have a certain amount of future proofing. I`m sure they won`t change the standard for several years.

people are strange and when your a stranger faces seem ugly when your alone.
