audigy 2 & speaker sys

I recently put togeather a new box. I listened to some ppl and trusted that onboard sound had improved. hmmmm, improved yes, but good? NO.
So I just stuck in a audigy2 value. have had SB before and was happy. The speaker sys I have is a four point surround FPS2000 DIGITAL, Cambridge Sound works.
There is a Digital DIN (SPDIF cable), [and I have a SPDIF Bracket. Which I don't believe I need here.]
Can I use the digital Din from the cambridge soubd sys with this new audigy? It has a digital IOplug on the card, but it also specifies that you should only use a
"Digital I/O Module SB0002 (availble as an upgrade) top prevent damage to the card."
Do I need to get the upgrade to use it?
Thanks, I really cant afford to blow this card.

With an Audigy2 you should get awesome sound with the regular analog outputs for your 4.1 system.

I have an Audigy2 and a Klipsch Promedia 4.1 speaker system and my computer blows away most peoples' "house" stereo, using the Audigy2's analog outputs. 😎

I dont know about the audigy 1 but i used to have my audigy 2 and then the 2 zs hooked up to a pair of logitech z_680's i just used 1 of those converters from radio shack to hook it up and i never blew the card lol 🙂 but... it is an audigy 1 so i dont know
And the sound is really nice when it goes digital but its a lot quieter too
Think its safe and let us know what happenes

Some onboard sound is better, I had a board with the SB Live 5.1 chip on it.
