Hey, I have been having this issue for over a year now.

It happens on and off, sometimes it won't go away for hours and sometimes I don't have the issue for weeks on end. But it's incredibly annoying. When the issue makes an appearance and I tab into a game or webpage that is using a media player the audio begins to crackle quite violently and my FPS will drop FAAAR below what the system is capable of. The two symptoms only occur together.

I have tried several fixes, to no avail, I have performed virus scans, driver updates, systemcare software, and I am at my wits end.

The computer's specs are:

i7 4770K 3.50GHz processor
16GB RAM
GTX 780
SSD 120GB and 3TB HDD

I would give brands and the motherboard/tower specs but I have lost those exact pieces of information. If they are a must-have I can have a dig around. :)

Please, any help is greatly appreciated, has anyone solved this issue in the past? Thanks.

cud be an ageing card...how old is ur build???
clean the gpu for dust accumulation...do a clean install of ur gpu drivers by using guru3d...also try updating ur vbios if tht doesnt fix it...
also...wats the full spec of ur psu and which windows version r u using???

650W silver I am fairly sure. To get you concrete info I'd have to crack open the case again and I'm a bit apprehensive to do that. :-/ But I can if it is actually relevant to the issue.

were you ever able to fix this problem? my build is practically identical to yours and i've recently been experiencing the same problems- not sure if it's my ssd dying out or some other hardware deficiency

I have:

4770K
16 GB DDR3-2133 MHz RAM
GTX1050Ti
Asus Sabertooth Z87 Motherboard
Soundblaster Recon 3D

Powered by a HX850 850 watt power supply

Recently started experiencing this same issue - starting with whilst I was playing Spellbreak Alpha - thought it was just the game. Then it happened during Apex Legends. Yet again, thought it was just the game. Then it occurred during Battlefield 4, which I've never had an issue with.

So far I've monitored temps to see if that was causing the issue. However whilst running the games I had a max GPU temp of around 79 C and a Max CPU temp of around 65 C.

I've done:

sfc /scannow
DISM /Online /Cleanup-Image /RestoreHealth

which found and fixed some errors but didn't resolve the issue (thought it did but then it happened again)

Also did a full uninstall and reinstall of NVidia drivers and full uninstall and reinstall of Soundblaster Recon3D drivers.

I thought about pulling the Recon3D and running off onboard sound to see if it made a difference but after some people reported the same issue whilst using onboard Realtek sound, I figured that probably wasn't an issue.

Did think it had something to do with my powersupply as I noticed the issue seemed to be happening when I had a lot of stuff charging off the front USB ports, but then today it happened when I didn't have anything plugged in at all.

Maybe that's an indication of a dying powersupply but I'll monitor what's happening and add to this thread.
