I have a Lenovo y50 laptop and I decided to buy a pair of brand-new Ath-m50x headphones. When I try plugging the ath-m50x's into my computer there is a non-stop crackling, buzzing sound that no matter what I do it won't go away. However, when I plug in my cheap Sony headphones there is no crackling. I've tried deleting my Realtek drivers and plenty of research, but no matter what I do, nothing works. The buzzing is driving me crazy and it just won't stop! Please help!

So the headsets are probably okay as they work without crackling etc. on another/other audio sources.

Are you using the coiled cable with a male TRS mini-plug on the headset end and a standard male 1/8" (3.5mm) TRS plug on the other end? Is that the cable that came with the headphones?

Those coiled cables are always trying to coil and if not securely plugged in the connection would be inconsistent. Do you have a straight mini-plug to 1/8" Male-Male cable to try?

How does the 1/8" headphone cable plug feel when is it plugged into the laptop versus your phone? Any looseness, not feeling snug?

Anyway I think the problem is between the 1/8" headphone cable plug and the audio jack on the laptop. Some unique "mismatch" between the...
Try the Ath-m50x headphones on another computer or audio device.

See if the problem follows the headphones.

You can also put the headphones on and gently twist and bend along the cable length. Wiggle and twist around on the cable plug ends. See if you can make the audio cracking stop - could be a defective cable.

Try another cable.....

The objective is to eliminate possibilities and narrow things down.

I first tried adjusting the cable and rotating it, however, there was no difference. I then proceeded to plug the headphones into my phone, worked completely fine - no crackling, buzzing, or extraneous sounds. I finally tried switching the wires that were included with the headphones, again, having no effect.

Put an audio extension cable between the coiled headphone cable and the laptop. Or do anything you can to verify or eliminate a connection problem between the two.

Does not matter if my thought about the problem is right or wrong. Either way the "bad connection" needs to be proven or eliminated as a possibility.
