Audio Crackling/Popping with Realtek and Sonic Studio, unless Playback Devices window is open

I recently built a desktop with an Asus Z270E motherboard (thought this might be relevant), and I've been hearing crackling and popping audio when using headphones on high volumes. I'm currently using Realtek and Sonic Studio 3, and have tested it with various configurations of the two, as well as two different headsets and two different audio output jacks on the PC. I've tried setting the priority of all audio-related processes to Real Time in Task Manager as well, without any luck.

The strange thing is, the popping and crackling completely vanishes when I open the "Playback devices" settings (from right-clicking the Windows 10 audio icon), and I have no idea why that fixes it. Is there some way to permanently fix this? I'd like a better solution than leaving open a settings window.

Thanks for your help.

Solution
well i found something interesting, i found like a ton of new articles everyone in November of this year all over the forums which all seems to be about this problem. Out of nowhere popping, cracling some problem with audio, but not with a universal solution.
Seems strange that so many people got same issue in 1 month isnt it? Could it be some new drivers of any kind of idk rly.
(just a guy with same issue)

Did you try to update the Sound drivers?
The Crackling/Popping noise sounds like some Interferences to me but it doesnt make sense that the Sounds vanish after opening the Settings.
Try lowering the Volume in the PLayback Devices options maybe.

Thanks for the tip - I updated the Realtek drivers to the latest version (6.0.1.8186), but the issue is still present.

As for lowering the volume, while yes this technically does work, the point is that I'd like it to work on higher volumes. Currently I have the system volume set to 70%, so I'm not even maxing out the volume.

I should have mentioned in the original post that there's only 2 audio ports on the PC, and I've tried both of them so no luck there.

are you using ur Audio IN/Line IN? if not deactivate that and c if that fixes it .
Also try disabling the ATI HDMI Audio in device manager.
If none of these Steps help try deinstalling Sonic Studio/Sonic Master and c if that fixes it

I have the same issue guys. I tried most everything I fint on internet forums. I have Asus Strix B250B Gaming motherboard. Its really annoying when you play for example GTA V and its popping like most of the time. Its not about the cable or the bad connection. Its I think just software issue. But If you can help me with this problem I will very appreciate it. Im sorry for my english...
