Question Audio Crash on Win10

So, this is an issue I've had for a while now but never got around to fixing, the last few days I've been asking around on some tech discord servers for help but so far we haven't been able to fix this issue. I had the idea of putting it here to get some help from you guys, as you are all quite knowledgeable.

Some background, this PC has a fresh copy of Windows 10 Home 64 bit installed on it in February.

I'll have the issue when listening to audio, where the audio will just fail. My headset gets disconnected, and it will take 10-15 seconds for it to be reconnected and the sound to start working. The issue with this is, when you are gaming, most games will lose sound permanently, until you restart them, which is a HUGE hassle.

Anyway, with help from users on Discord, I tracked down errors in my event viewer, see below;

AUDIODG.exe is crashing. The faulting module is ntdll.dll

Someone from discord opened it up in HxD and found this;

For comparison, this is his windows 7 ntdll.dll file in HxD

I've tried tons of fixes for this, which I will outline now;

Updating BIOS and Motherboard drivers (as recommended in a thread from google where someone had audiodg issues)
Updating audio drivers (I had the most recent installed anyway)
Reinstalling said drivers + headset
Installing everything from windows update (I was already fully updated but didnt hurt to double check)
I ran sfc /scannow which returned no errors
I disabled sound enhancements on my headset as this is a common recommendation
I tried the fix at the bottom of this thread ( https://answers.microsoft.com/en-us...randomly/303d6877-4a41-4f17-a868-dce356463e7e )

Nothing I have done so far has fixed this issue, I have ruled out the headphones I use being the issue, as they work fine on other systems. audiodg also doesn't crash when sound isn't playing, as I've left them on overnight and had no crashes recorded in event viewer, only once playing sound does this happen.

I really need some expert help for this, as I want to avoid a windows reinstall as much as possible.

Thankyou in advance.

So, I got the suggestion to use a 3.5mm headset to see if it happens, it has been an hour now and no crash using them.

I'm not sure what to make of this, as my usb headset has no issues on my macbook, and it had no issues on this system prior to reinstalling windows.

I've also moved it to different USB ports, and went as far as trying an external usb port plugged into mains power.
