Audio is changed and dim

The audio has changed suddenly into dim and karaoke-like output, both on the front and back panel [with and without realtek HD audio manager]- so jack panels are alright guess. Tested with two head phones.

Is there any problem with the onboard audio components?

Is this a symptom of mainboard failing?

*Four years, Gigabyte Z87 HD3.

I'd be looking more into Windows sound management, to make sure something is not set to near mute conditions....

Alternatively, you could boot a Linux Mint17 Live CD from DVD or USB, and see if it has normal sound at completion of bootup...

Booted from another hard drive, the sound quality was same, lack of stereo. Mono and fuzzy karaoke-like sound.
