Audio Issue, Can't hear games except for Intros

So, I have Windows 10 and play games on Steam, I downloaded Windows new update (1703 April Update) and now my games are having an audio issue on both my speakers, and headset.

I launch whatever game I'm going to play and I can hear portions of sound in the intro's, and some main menu music, but when I get into the game there is pretty much no sound.

I reverted to the previous Windows 10 build, and it solved the problem, then ran into a separate issue with the OS so I decided to do a fresh install. The issue came about again because it has to be on the current version, and while it randomly disappeared for a few days, it then came back. I've ran multiple troubleshooting things on Audio, program compatibility, etc. and absolutely nothing helps

Does anyone know what this is or how to fix it? This is horrible, I'm completely lost.

Go into your Playback Devices, open up the properties for your main one, go to the Advanced tab, and make sure "Allow applications to take exclusive control of this device" is unchecked. Do the same on the Recording Devices window for your mic, just in case.

If that doesn't fix it, I've got one other idea, but I don't want to confuse things unduly unless that first idea doesn't work.

Not directly; I had another idea about what could have been wrong, but it's decided to take a little vacation...lol

Edit: This isn't the original idea, but it could be the new Game Mode taking priority away from whatever powers the headset; go into your game, hit Win+G, and disable Game Mode for the game via the settings menu (gear icon as usual).
