Audio issues after switching case

So I bought a new case today and after the transplant, the audio stopped working properly. Only one side of my headphones actually produces sound, the other just has this buzzing noise (this also appears whenever I move my mouse).

I spent hours reinstalling drivers, checking cables, etc but nothing seems to work.

Has anyone encountered this problem?

Just an update:

So I for got to put this thing on the new case. I don't know how but after installing it, the audio works like it should with no static noise at all.
I hope this helps those who run into the same problem as I did.
Sounds like an issue with your front panel Audio connector. Try unhooking the Audio front panel connector and see if it still does it.

Also, are you using a dedicated sound card or onboard? If dedicated, do you have any fans close to the card?

Is your PC properly grounded? Try adding a ground drop to the plug and see if it still makes the sound.

Are you using an audio amplifier of any sort? If so, try turning your volume down on your PC to about 60 and turn the volume on the amp up.

Any the above could cause your issue, PC Audio issues can be very tricky.

Thanks for replying.
I'm using onboard sound (card?) with no amplifier. Also I've never grounded my PCs before, is that important?
As for the front panel connector, I tried unhooking it and switching between HD audio and AC-97 but the problem persists.

You're power supply should be connected to a 3 prong cord by default which has a ground built in, but sometimes the grounding going to the plug may have noise on the line (having light switch dimmers on the same circuit would do this).

Also since it is working on one side and not the other it is possible the onboard audio port may have been damaged during the transition. Have you tried plugging headphones into the front panel instead of the back?

The front panel jack produces the same result as the headphone port in the back. I found that plugging into the line in port gives me both channels, albeit with the same buzzing sound (static?).

I've resorted to using my TV with a hdmi cable which works fine so I suspect the onboard ports were fried during the switch.

Would a usb sound card fix this?
