Question Audio jack microphone issue

Jul 12, 2020
I just built my PC and everything is running fine, no software or hardware problems. The only thing is, when I plug in my headset using the audio jack in the front, the input is complete static. The static is extremely loud and uncomfortable. No one on a receiving end of a call would be able to understand anything. The output is completely fine though as I can hear everything perfectly. I re-plugged the audio cable on the motherboard without any luck. If anyone could tell me what the problem is and if there is a solution, that would be great!

(The issue is not in the headset, it works fine with other devices)

My motherboard is an ASUS ROG STRIX B550 with wifi.
