Question Audio Keeps Switching To 5.1 Surround On Start Up Need It To Stay On Stereo

Hi,
I have a racing sim that I need windows audio to stay on Stereo , I am able to configure it to
stereo and race the sim ok but after I shut down and start up the next day the Audio Device
is configured to 5.1 Surround, so I have to always reconfigure after startup, all audio software
has been uninstalled and my sound card software is disabled. I have a sound blaster z se sound
card and I don't think it has anything to do with the problem, I can't find an answer by searching.
I would like for someone that knows of a solution that has already worked to answer.😎

Make sure your OS is up to date as is your BIOS version for your motherboard.

You might want to see if uninstalling the sound cards drivers, then manually reinstalling it in an elevated command, i.e, Right click installer>Run as Administrator helps you out.

I see two versions listed in the link above, one released back in 2021 and another in 2024. You could try and work with the 2021 version. if that doesn't resolve the issue, uninstall and then reinstall with the 2024 version.
