Hello, looked through I don't know how many thread, cannot find a single thing that will solve this problem.

I have drivers installed, have uninstalled and re-installed them about 6 times now, have the correct plug plugged into my mobo, it is showing sound but neither my front output or back output are playing any sounds through my speakers or my headphones...

Specs are

Asus P8H77-V LE
i5 3570K
4GB Ram

Realtek HD Audio

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Did you install drivers from the motherboard vendors CD or download them direct from Realtek's support site?

You can download their drivers from HERE . Try that and see if it helps.

I found that the only way that worked for me was to go to ASUS's web page and searched for my computer then installed, the audio package. Getting just the Realtek divers did not fix it so I am guessing there are some special things that ASUS included for theur hardware. Here is the site:
http://support.asus.com/download/options.aspx?SLanguage=en&type=1 .

The sound did not work till after a reboot and the realtek program had to re-detect everything.

if you have a Pavilion dv7 or simular laptop from hp you may need to remind hp the drivers dont match the 7 software package - I had to delete my installed drivers and go to a download page to install new drivers from microsoft - they will point the guilty finger at each other, but will eventually put you on the right track...you'll also have to reload the bio

Tulf, sorry not a solution, but did you manage to get this resolved? I have a very similar set-up and the same problem.

Spec:
ASROCK H77M motherboard
i5 3470
8GB Ram
ASUS HD7770 graphics
Window 7 64 bit professional
Realtek HD Audio

All was working well, but sometime over the past week the sound stopped working with much the same symptoms as you, including the same behavior you stated. (Indicates sound is being output, no errors on any of the devices & tested several speakers & headphones in motherboard and front panel jacks)
My BIOS is up to date, I've updated all my drivers (realtek driver now version 2.7) and uninstalled/re-installed all the sound drivers several times as well but no luck.

Any help to solve this would be greatly appreciated.

ive got this exactl same god dmaned problem, it stopped working some time after i tried installing KDE for windows, and nothing i do will get it to work again. seems this is a realtek audio issue, as thats pretty much all our rigs have in common, im using the Asus m5A99FX board
