Hey guys I need help with my Acer H257HU Monitor audio output making buzzing noise to external speakers. Whenever I play games like Borderlands 2 or an older game Burnout Paradise I hear a buzzing noise coming from my external computer speakers plugged into audio output from monitor. I made sure the green audio cable is plugged all the way in monitor's audio output and it still makes buzzing noise. Listen to it for yourself. It is really annoying noise. I am 100% sure there is nothing wrong with my Acer H257HU Monitor.

Here is the recorded audio clip of the buzzing noise I hear from monitor audio output to external computer speakers. I posted this google drive link so that you guys can hear what the buzzing noise sounds like.

I'm using DVI. No the speakers don't make the noise when connected directly to computer.

I prefer to use DVI. But why do you recommend I use HDMI over DVI? Why is my Acer H257HU monitor making a buzzing noise from audio output?

I would rather use DVI because I use this kinivo 5 hdmi switch device. to add more hdmi ports for my H257HU. I use my H257HU as a monitor and a tv. I have a wii u and directv box connected to kinivo 5 hdmi switch. ffg7 can you please answer this question, why is my H257HU creating the buzzing noise? You can hear it for yourself from the google drive link.

has this started recently or been going on for a while? all games or just some? bypass that switch device so that the monitor is connected directly to the computer to see if the sound is still there or not. if not there then connect to the switch box with no other hdmi device connected to see if the sound is still there or not. connect 1 hdmi device to the switch box til that sound comes back.

This buzzing noise issue has been going on for a while. The buzzing issue happens with some games like borderlands 2 or an older game Burnout Paradise. Well why do you think the buzzing noise is happening?

Yeah I tired what you suggested. There is no problem with the hdmi switch device. The monitor is the culprit here. Is my monitor's audio output defective? Sometimes when I scroll the wheel on my mouse I hear another noise through the speakers connected to the monitor audio output.

can you try a different dvi cable from the 1 currently attached to that monitor as maybe a shield problem in the cable? so when the monitor is directly connected to the computer with the speakers connected to the monitor, you still get that noise, correct? just trying to isolate the source of the problem.

I tried a different amazon basics dvi cable and I still heard buzzing noise :( Yes I still get buzzing noise when monitor is directly connected to computer with speakers connected to monitor.

how old is the monitor as might still be under warranty as some warranties are upto 3yrs? it appears that monitor uses the same power cord as your tower has which means it has 2 circuit boards in it, power board & video logic board. I think the sound goes thru the video logic board & maybe a bad can shaped capacitor is causing the problem but not certain.

Hello It's been a while ok, so I got my monitor repaired and I received a brand new monitor from acer repair which took almost 2 months long story short. But guess what guys, I still hear the same buzzing noise with this same new monitor replacement I have no idea why this grounding shielding buzzing noise is happening? Did I receive two lemons in a row bad luck or does this happen with all the acer monitor that I have? Is this normal?

Ok I really feel stupid now. All along the problem was DVI. DVI was causing buzzing noise all along. DVI is very obsolete why did I not think of using newer better HDMI or display port? Because I thought I could only use external speakers through DVI and I was wrong. I can use external speakers with HDMI by plugging in external speakers in audio output of monitor with headphones icon and I don't hear buzzing noise anymore using HDMI :)
