Hi all, I'm new here so if something not right about my post please let me know.
I've been having this problem for a while now. Situation is like this: I have one LCD monitor and a TV connected to one graphic card. For the LCD, it's a HDMI to HDMI, for the TV, it's DVI to HDMI. I'm using a AMD R7 360 and windows 7. My card has only one HDMI cable so I have to use a DVI-HDMI cable.
The symptom is I just can't find the TV in the playback device list when my LCD is connected. It's simply not there so I can't turn on the TV's sound by making it the default. If I disconnect the LCD before I turn on my PC, I can see the TV in the list and therefore am able to switch my audio output. Interesting thing is if I plug my LCD back on at this moment, I can't see the LCD in playback device list. My theory is for some reason, two external audio outputs are not allowed at the same time; the card prioritise the HDMI output over DVI output; and finally when DVI output is activated, HDMI output is not. Is this possible or correct? The cables are functioning properly, so it's unlikely the hardware problem.
My application of this combo is I use LCD for work/gaming and TV for movies - because my speaker is next to my LCD so when I watch movie I need to switch to TV's own speaker.
I've updated the driver of my card and HD audio of my motherboard to the latest version.
Any thoughts are very welcome.
Thanks
James
