So I'm trying to connect a pair of speakers and my headset to my pc at the same time, but they both use 3.5mm headphone jack. The green port on my mobo works fine, as well as my mic, but when I plug something into any of the other jacks(orange, black, blue and gray), no sound at all comes out. My pc recognises the audio devices, and says that they're playing sound, but I don't hear any sound at all.
Any suggestions?

MOBO:Asrock 970 pro3 r2.0
Headset: Logitech g230 headset
Speakers: Audioengine 2

Solution
plug the headset in the front panel audio jack

then in realtek audio manager up top right click the little folder and disable front jack detection

then the speakers and headphones can out put audio at the same time

The green Jack input you find on the back of the Main I/O panel of the motherboard is for Stereo left and right for a front pair of speakers or a set of headphones.

Bar the red input that is labeled as the mic input.

And also a light blue colored jack input that is Line in on most system, audio in to record sound from another device such as an ipod.

The rest of the colored ports are used for a 5.1 surround sound speaker setup.

Where you have front Left, Right speaker setup
Front center.
Rear Left, Right speaker setup

And 1 sub woofer connected to the ports provided. The .1 always being the sub woofer of the 5.1 setup.

If you have a 5.1 surround sound speaker setup connected to the rear audio panels, and want to hear audio from it.

Right click on the speaker Icon of windows desktop for sound.
Select playback devices.
Then for HD audio speakers make sure by right clicking on it, that is is selected as the default audio playback device.

Once set
Right click again, and you will see speaker setup.
Click on it and from there select 5.1 surround sound as the option.
Then click apply or ok.

You should now have 5.1 surround sound where you can test to see if each speaker is working.

For the front two audio ports on the system case connect your headphones, or your Mic and headphone setup.
Right click on the headphones or coms and select set as default communications device.

If the headset is capable of 5.1 surround sound once again select the 5.1 setting by right clicking on the headset or headphones icon of windows sound manager.

Not a lot of people know that.
I mean that you have to setup and select the 5.1 speaker setting in windows sound manager for any 5.1 speaker setup you have. or if your headphones or headphones and mic support 5.1 playback as well.

Or if you wish to switch between use of the speaker setup and a plain set of stereo headphones.

Simply click on playback and set either as the default playback device when needed.

Speakers Default playback device
Or
Headphones Default playback device.

If a communication device to play a game and use in game chat leave as default communication device.
