Hi,

I apologize if this is not the pace to ask this however I cannot see a forum for problems.

I have a PC only a couple of months old, bought off ebay 2 months old so 4 in total.

Anywho, a pair of Senheiser earphones and they are not broken as they work perfect in other devices.

In my PC however they know do not work well at all. They now only work when you apply pressure downwards on the headphones wire near the jack port and even then not every time.

sometimes when the headphones are only part way plugged in they are fine, other times not.

I need to fix it quite urgently though, I have a channel im running on youtube, and its affecting that as yesterday recorded 2 hours of gaming and it didnt record the sound, im assuming because part way through the headphone jack connection cut off.

Can this easily be fixed and how? I will do it myself if I know what to do!

Thanks in advance

It sounds like a damaged socket. If your handy with a soldering iron, replace it with a new one. Make sure it's a stereo socket not a mono that you get as a replacement and buy a quality one, they are not that much more expensive and usually better than the one's the case builders use, (especially in a cheap case).
Hope this helps.

im not unfortunately.. i could give it a go if i could get my hands on one. sounds like an expensive repair if i have to buy a soldering iron :/

I take it there is no other alternative (bar buy a new case)

A small soldering iron (around 25-40W) with a little bit of multi-core solder, you should be able to get for around $10 and a standard stereo 3.5mm chassis jack socket should be less than a dollar, a good quality one a bit more.
Soldering is not that hard to learn, look up tutors on the net, practise with some cheap components (a 'grab bag' from any electronics outlet will cost you about a dollar). Just make sure your iron is up to temperature and the tip is clean and tinned.
Many electronics stores sell beginners kits for $15-$20 with everything you need including an instruction booklet.
Take the trouble to learn, you'll never regret it, and save yourself a fortune in repairs.

oh my god a usb to sterio audio adapter is the way to go!! 😀 less complicated .. i only had onboard sound which i was fine with.. that saves me a headache!
thanks

Yes, that would be the easy way out, but like I said, if you take the trouble to learn, you will have a very useful skill that will save you a fortune over a lifetime.
My father taught me to solder when I was 7, I'm now pushing 75, and believe me, it has been one of the most useful skills I ever acquired.
Anyway, I know you gamers have little time for anything else, so game on dude!
