When I plug in my headset and try to record something with the Windows
XP voice recorder program, my computer freezes. I was trying earlier
(with numerous programs) to try video conferencing with a friend and
each time we tried it, my computer froze up. I can listen to music fine
and if I'm not recording and I speak into the mic, it comes through the
speakers just fine. But once I hit record or try to do any sort of
video conferencing the computer freezes up. Even if there is no mic
plugged in, if I hit record on the sound recorder in Windows my system
freezes up. Can anyone help me out and let me know what if anything
can be done? I have a P4 3.2 with one gig of RAM, a decent sound card
(not an onboard one) plenty of hard drive space and a decent video
card. I'd like to do video conferencing with a friend but we can't
because of this audio problem and each time we try to, my system
freezes up. I've tried seemingly everything and I can't figure it out.
Thanks very much.
