Audio service not running on sony vaio

Hello,
I have a sony vaio vgn-cs215J. Red X through the speaker icon. Tried everything. What is this bios everyone is talking about?

You can access the BIOS by pressing f3 as soon as you turn on the laptop. The BIOS is essentially the computer's main set up area (without getting too complicated). While there, ensure that the speakers and such are enabled. Have you tried re-installing the drivers from sony's support site?
