Question Audio static - not your common static

Quick setup info: Z370 Aorus Gaming 5, i7 8700k oc'd to 4.5ghz (max cpu temps in the high 50°s under full load), 32gb DDR4 2666, Windows 10 pro and then a a reliable set of active noise cancelling ear buds (totally free of static on any other device), that are plugged into onboard mobo jack for the "front speaker output", as recommended by Gigabytes manual.

The ear buds have a crackling static but only when the noise-cancelling is turned ON. Seems like an obvious source of the problem right there.

So, assuming it's the earbuds making the static I wanted to rule out anything being generated in relation to the cpu load. I put the pc under full load by running a bench test and where I thought I would get now a louder, constant static I got dead silence.

The static goes silent right as the cpu goes 100%, and then the static returns the second the pc comes back down to idle. I'm up to date on both Realtek and Nvidia audio drivers.

Any suggestions are appreciated.

Thank You
