Hey guys.
I picked up a pair of Sennheiser HD6XXs recently. Even though i love them but they arent great for gaming.
So ive zeroed down on the Audio Technica AD700X and AD900X.
I want them strictly for gaming so please answer accordingly.
Even though the AD900X is only $30 more expensive than the AD700X so i dont mind spending the extra buck if theyre worth it.
From what i hear the 900X have better bass. I dont mind that, however it that affects the gaming performance of the headphone then id prefer the one that performs better at gaming as i have the HD6XX for music.

Go with the cheaper set if gaming is all they are used for. When the bad guy is trying to walk up behind you, shooting him is going to be much higher priority than the tonal quality of his footsteps. Gaming sounds are fast and totally inconsistent, all you'll need to know is that you heard a gunshot, it's not like music where it's rich or poignant, it's a gunshot.

The 900's have slightly better bass than the 700's but as with any headphone set, bass can often muddy the rest of what's going on, I suspect the 700s will have slightly better gaming clarity in that respect.

I was recommend the Audio Technica M40x or M50x. Upgrading from my Turtle Beach Z22 headset ($55) which broke after only 20 months of use, I bought the M50x (w/ attachable mic), now it sounds like I'm in the movie theater. :)

I'm wondering now what are the difference in the ADx and the Mx. The ADx seem to have better specs.

I went shopping a few months ago for new headphones, I kept running the chair over the cord, or it'd get snagged on clothing etc and I got tired of it ripping the usb out of the pc. A complaint it seems with the long, straight cords of the AT's. So I went wireless with the Steel Series Arctis 7 and honestly, it's night and day difference. Full over the ear cups, soft padding, good sound and thankfully absolutely no cordage!

Sound quality might not be as good as a wired connection, but online chat is great, no lag, crystal clear, can tailor chat down and game sounds up or full chat and no game sounds with a button, retractable mic, hardwire connection turns off speakers when headphones are on don't even need to unplug anything, great range with 40 feet easily through walls and a floor and no cord to tie me 4feet to a desk.

The AT's might sound a little better overall, but for simple convenience when gaming, you really can't touch a good wireless set.
