I understand the manual is terrible. Is there any other source to learn
how to bets use this phone, address book, program speed dial numbers,
etc?

You can download the "same" manual off the Audiovox site.....personally, I
found the manual easy enough to use once one simply took the time to get
familiar with the basic buttons.....

All phones and manuals are "alike" and yet "different". Read all the way
through the manual and things fall into place a whole lot better once you
focus on specific tasks.....

If you buy the mobile office kit, working the phone book is a snap and
depending on where you live, data connection is a breeze.....very efficient
and relatively fast for the nature of the connections themselves.....

All in all, I found that it took about two days of reading and experimenting
to get familiar and to get things right - and the manual helped a
lot.....your specific questions are easy to answer. The manual makes "using"
the phone simple, programming speed dial is easier than any other phone I've
ever had and, again, using mobile office software makes managing the phone
book a snap......!

Just got my 8600 the manual could use lots of improvement. The disc they
send with it isn't much better.

I just got the Audiovox 8600 Friday. Actually, my husband bought a phone
and they gave me the 8600 for the share plan. I figure it is not too
popular if Verizon is giving it away. I agree that the manual is poor and
the program is not intuitive. But after a couple of days of fooling around
with it, I know how to program it and it is now easier to use and I actually
like it. There are several things I don't know how to work and one is the
speed dial. I have to work on that today. And all phone numbers I enter in
the phone book show up under "all", but no other classifications (such as
personal, business, etc.). I'm looking forward to setting up Mobil Office,
it will be great when traveling.

Mobile office will be something you love - and the phone book program makes
shifting to personal, business, etc., a snap....
