Hi my aunt's HP pavilion a1710n power supply died. It's fairly old and probably not worth repairing. She uses her computer for mostly skype, emails, music, and pictures. My grandfather uses it sometimes too but he just plays chess on it. I have some old computer parts lying around at home so I'm not sure what would be the best thing to do. At home I have intel core 2 quad q6600, a compatible asus motherboard, 2x2gb of ram, a case, and a evga gt640 (which is incredibly loud) i'd probably omit it from a build if i used it again. This was my computer from before so it has windows 7 locked to it still. I'd still need a psu, cd drive, and hdd so it's be about $200. Or would it be better to start fresh with a new amd apu? I was thinking something like this but I'm open to suggestions.

Solution
If the LGA 775 MB and C2Q is still in good condition, it would be cheaper just to add the missing parts. The GT 640 shouldn't be that loud unless it's fan is stuck at full speed all the time.

But your A10 build is a good alternative for someone like that.
