Just picked up an Auros 1080ti and im having an issue installing it into my z87 pro ASUS motherboard. If i use the top slot, the card wont clamp into the slot properly due to the cards heatsink coming in contact with the Mobo Chipset Heatsink. If i use the PCI slot below, its hitting the SATA port connections. I dont know what else to do as i really dont wanna return this card. Would i be able to remove that heatsink or would i be running into problems? Or is their any very low profile z87 chipset heatsinks on the market

If this is your board man you do have lots of interference putting in that massive size of a card. I have used these in the past and they do work. As to if you can somehow make use of them will depend on your case and if you can work out the logistics of mounting and location.

I also have a fractal design r4 case which only has 1 vertical slot :(. So i dont think it will hold the card up propely even with a pci riser base

For your case If it were me I would make a bracket to hold the base, a quick run to the hobby store or hardware store. If you look on amazon there are other cables that come with a whole mounting bracket solution, Just need to get more coffee in me to get my day going to find. lol

im so confused bro lol. The r4 case i cant find any mounting solutions. its silly because my case supports the gpu size, its just the stupid chipset heatsink blocking it from fully depressing into the pci slot

my card is not with me right now. But where that Chipset heatsink you can see in your picture. the one which is out of focus next to the pci slot. the heatsink is so big on the auros that i cant push it into the pci slot far enough without the other end of my card hitting it. Also the sata ports are in the way if i put it into a lower slot

or it could be the sata ports the whole time.. which would be an even bigger problem

Vertical gpu mount would be the best option imho. With that case you'd need to get one that will require 90 degree ends on 1 side of the cable and it would limit you to just using HDMI and Displayport. It will also block the use of most to all of the other pci ports and with the length of the card you'll have to remove the top 3.5" bay.

my case doesn't support the vertical mount. id have to snip off all the horizontal ones and give up my sound card
