[SOLVED] AUS PC Build $1500

I'm looking to build a PC for my friend in the ballpark of $1500-$1600AUD.

ATM I'm looking at building around a 5600x, the only requirement being a motherboard that includes wifi and Windows 10.

I've currently got this much but am already over the budget and I'm not sure where to go from here.

From here possibly thinking of downgrading the GPU to a 1650 4gb? Appreciate any help

Definitely do not downgrade the GPU, honestly, if you’re friend can wait till graphics card prices return to normal in a year or so I would set them up with an 8-core 16-thread AMD 5700G APU. The integrated graphics in the 5700g are good enough to play most games at 1080p low to medium settings, then when gpu’s are affordable again he will probably have more money to spend on a decent graphics card (the nvidia 16 series of gpu’s are pretty bad) like an nvidia 30 series or AMD 6000 series or even nvidia 40 series or AMD 7000 series when they come out. Some may argue that the 5700G’s cpu cores are slightly less powerful than a 5800x due to less l3 cache but I honestly don’t think it’s that much of a difference.

Thanks for the response, I was definitely considering a 5700G especially when it's price is not that much different from a 5600x. I decided against going one because my friend told me not to but I still think for the budget it works out a lot better and I can spend the saved money on a good PSU. Have you got any recommendations for the rest of the build?

If you have specific questions on what other components to get go ahead and ask and I’ll try and help. But generally when I build gaming computers for friends I will spec out everything but the graphics card so that they all stay relevant for at least 5 years so that means 32GB of ram (3600mhz is decent, 3800-4000 suits APU’s better since the video memory for the integrated graphics is your main memory, however, it won’t matter as much when your friend gets a GPU so not a deal breaker with 3600), a nice 80 plus gold PSU at least 750w but 850w is better (just in case they buy a power hungry nvidia 40 series when they come out). The mobo you picked is good, maybe look into z570 boards (again not a deal breaker) and I really like to just get a big NVMe SSD and forgo adding more storage drives. 1TB NVMe drives are pretty decently priced now a days. Hope this helps and remember that these are just my opinions not the word of god lol so it’s okay to deviate based on pricing constraints and such. If you need anything else just holler!
