AUSU A540L has power issues

MY son's ASUS A540L won't remain on, when disconnected from mains power. Battery Indicator on bottom right indicates approx. 75% charge.
Laptop is approx. 6 months old.
Any suggestions?

If it won't stay on when on battery alone, even though says it has enough charge to do so, then I would contact the manufacturer. Sounds like a bad battery.
