"Authentication Error" on sign in - plz help!

This is a message i get on a blank purple page after signing in on zone.com
(Entering email address & password)

I was trying to play a game on Zone.com. <<
I was trying to play a game in MSN Messenger.<< Links
I was trying to buy a game. <<
I don’t know, or none of the above. " <<

Could someone please tell me how to solve this prob as i cant sign in and
play age of empires! This used to work and works on my laptop so its a prob
with my computer.

Known issues with XP SP2 and various products out there.

It may help to use the "Enabling programs" section of the above article
to allow Zone.exe, Zproxy.exe and any other Zone program that
communicates with the Zone.

There's a section here on disabling the XP firewall:
